The public is cordially invited to come tour the inside of the historic Tarbell House this Saturday, August 8, from noon to 4 p.m. during Titusville's Oil Festival. Located at 324 East Main Street in Titusville, this 1870 building was Ida Tarbell's childhome home as well as the Tarbell family's base from 1870 - 1918.
Now operating as a house museum open by appointment, the Tarbell House is owned and managed by the non-profit Oil Region Alliance. The Alliance purchased the structure in 2007 and has now rehabilitated both the interior and exterior of this Italiante property. The only remaining major work is the planned rebuilding of the third floor cupola.
No reservations are needed for this week's public Open House. Light refreshments will be served.
Organizations may schedule private tours or the use of the first floor of the Tarbell House for special events year-round by contacting Mrs. Marilyn Black, VP of Heritage Development, at 814-677-3152 x 105 or by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
