                                    The Oil Region has ample (and affordable) opportuni%u019fes to hit the links, including the oldest golf course in con%u019fnuous use in the U.S.: Foxburg Golf Course & Country Club. This nine-hole course was founded in 1887 by Joseph Mickle Fox. The second floor of the clubhouse is home to the American Golf Hall of Fame, where visitors can enjoy a priceless collec%u019fon of golf clubs and other exhibits depic%u019fng the 400-year history of golf.At the other end of the Oil Region, Cross Creek Resort is home to a 27-hole course built in 1959 with Wynn Tredway as architect. The resort offers stay-and-play packages in addi%u019fon to banquet rooms, a restaurant, and a revolving bar, The Crystal Ring.Wanango Country Club is open to the public and situated between Oil City and Franklin. The clubhouse opened June 6, 1914 with a 9-hole course originally designed by Donald Ross. In 1920, A.W. Tillinghast redesigned the original 9 holes and added what is now the front 9. The course is a 6,124 yard, par 72 challenge. Wanango Country Club has a casual dining room which serves meals to the public.
